Short Summary of  Chapters from 1 to 8

It is the morning of October 2, 1872. Phileas Fogg cool gentle man living at Savile Row.  precise in every Mr. Fogg mathematically aligns every aspect of his life down to the second. He removes James Foster from work when he brought shaving water to 84 degrees Fahrenheit instead of 86 degrees Fahrenheit, 
Phileas Fogg spends every day exactly the same way, leaving for his Reform Club, between 11:00 and 11:15 a.m. Phileas Fogg waits for his new servant, Jean Passepartout, to arrive. Passepartout, a Frenchman, has spent his life jumping from one trade to another, and he expects to have a silent and peaceful life with Mr.Fog.  
Jean Passepartout, Fogg's new valet, is thrilled to work for such a systematic man, Passepartout spends familiarizing himself with his employer's home, habits, and schedule. He is thrilled to see every clock in Fogg's house ticking in exact unison.  Passepartout concludes Fogg is a "well-ordered disciplined man." 

During their daily whist game, Phileas Fogg and his five Reform Club associates discuss a recent robbery at the Bank of England by a "gentleman" thief, who has escaped with £55,000. Andrew Stuart, one of the whist players, argues the robber will likely get away with the crime because the world is a big place and detectives won't be able to find him. 
Phileas Fogg says to Stuart that the world used to be a big place, but this isn't true anymore.  Fogg explains people can now travel around the world in just 80 days because of the completion of a new railway spanning India. 
 Fogg states his 80-day itinerary does. Stuart then makes a £4,000 wager  and Fogg counters with £20,000. The five whist players, Andrew Stuart, John Sullivan, Samuel Fallentin, Thomas Flanagan, and Gauthier Ralph, agree to Fogg's £20,000 wager. Trusting his propensity for detail, Fogg asserts he will circumnavigate the world beginning at 8:45 that evening and ending on December 21 at 8:45 p.m. in the Reform Club.

Phileas Fogg returns home and tells Passepartout they will be "going around the world" and instructs Passepartout to pack one overnight bag, They take a cab to the train station. Fogg gives money to a woman begging in the street outside the station. On the platform they encounter Fogg's five friends. Phileas repeats the exact date and time he will return to the Reform Club's card room. As the train speeds away, Passepartout remembers he didn't turn off the gas heating his room, and Fogg tells him, "You'll be paying the bill!"
While Phileas Fogg and Passepartout travel, the members of the Reform Club are excited about Fogg's challenge. club members hold debates arguing the sanity or foolishness of Fogg's wager, which spreads  to the general public. The Daily Telegraph is the only credible newspaper that backs his endeavor.  Fogg has only one supporter left, Lord Albemarle, a man confined to a wheelchair who would give anything to go around the world. The exciting news changes whentes when Detective Fix sends a telegram identifying Phileas Fogg as the Bank robber of England. Fogg now gives a wrong impression to all the people who support him.
Detective Fix stands with the British consul on the dock in Suez. Fix is waiting for the steamship Mongolia to arrive from Brandisi, He is sure that assuming Phileas Fogg is on the steamer and he is convinced Phileas Fogg is the bank robber who is using the wager as a means of escape. The British consul suggests Fogg may not be the robber because Fogg is perfectly  respectable looking person.The ship arrives. Fix accidentally meets Passepartout, who asks Fix for directions to the consul's office. He tells Passepartout Phileas Fogg must be present for the consul to sign the passport.

Mr.Fix shows up at the British consul's office ahead of them and asks the consul to refuse to stamp their passports as a favor.  Fix is waiting for an arrest warrant, and he needs more time.  The British consul mentions to Fix that Fogg is not required to have his passport stamped, and if Fogg is a criminal, he probably won't show up since criminals prefer not to leave clues. They were interrupted when Fogg appears.The consul signs Fogg's passport and informs him it isn't necessary. Fogg explains he wants the official's signature as proof he stopped in Suez.  He then sends Passepartout off to buy more clothing while he waits in the cabin of the steamship Mongolia, where he makes specific notes on the dates, times.  They are exactly on schedule.  Passepartout meets Detective Fix while shopping for clothing, and he chats with Fix.  Passepartout explains that he and Fogg are on their way to Bombay, India and are traveling around the world.  When the detective sees Passepartout's watch dial, he comments about it.  Passepartout says he never changes the time and that the sun, not his watch, "will be wrong."

Summary 

Third Term

While disembarking in Egypt, Fog is watched by a Scotland Yard detective named Fix in search of a bank robber who matched his description. Fix be friends Passepartout to get more details about Fogg. They reach India. They take a train to Calcutta but due to sudden stop Fogg buys an elephant, with a Mahout and starts forwards Allahabad. Here they save a young Indian woman Aouda who is forced to funeral pyre of her dead husband. Passepartout pretends to rise from the smoke and saves her quickly and they take Aouda to Hong Kong. Passepartout is convinced that Fix is a spy from the Reform club. Fix get him drunk and drugs him. But he manages to reach Yokohama. Fogg finds out that he missed his connection and finds a pilot boat, the Tankadere takes them to Shanghai and from there to Yokohama by steamer. There they find Passepartout in a circus with long nose. then the Four board the general Grant taking them to San Francisco.

In San Francisco they board a transcontinental train to New York. They faced number of obstacles a huge herd of bison crossing the fracks, a falling suspension bridge. And the train being attacked by Sioux warriors.


In New York Fogg finds a steamboat, the Henrietta which goes to France. But Fogg bribes the crew to turn to Liverpool. The boat fights against the hurricane winds, and it runs out full. Mr. Fogg buys the boat from the captain and burn all the wooden parts to keep up the steam.

Once he lands on English soil, Detective Fix arrests Fogg. A short time later he is freed as actual robber James Strand was caught. However Fogg has missed the train and arrived in London five minutes later and he lost his wager.

Fogg apologizes to Aouda since he now would have to live in poverty and cannot support her. Aouda confesses her love and asks him to marry her. Mr.Fogg happily accpets her and He calls Passepartout to inform their marriage to the minister. There he finds out he is mistaken in the Date. He thinks that day to be Sunday December 22, which is actually Saturday December 21, because they traveled Eastwards, gaining a day. The bet can still be won.

Passepartout inform Fogg. They reach Reform club. The journey around the world in days and Fogg marries Aouda and the story ends happily.
