Tom sawyer Tom Sawyer First Term Summary 1 to 5 Tom is an orphan and lives with his half brother Sid, his cousin Mary, and his strict Aunt Polly in Missouri. He caught red handed in Aunt Polly's pantry cupboard stealing jam, Aunt Polly is about to punish him but Tom narrowly escapes with his naughty tricks. Again he is caught when he said that he didn't go for swimming , he is duly punished for his naughty behaviors and ordered to white wash the fence by Aunt Polly. Tom is said that his friends would play on a Saturday evening but he would be punished with painting. Also his friend would see him working. so he pretended to be enjoying himself in painting the fence.
