 1. Name the characters and their relationship in the play?

2. Describe Julius Caesar?
Julius Caesar was a great soldier and leader famous all over Europe as a conqueror, and when he returned to Rome he was admired by his people as a national hero.
3. Why many were afraid of Caesar?
Certain Romans, many of them Caesar's friends and companion, who were afraid of his increasing greatness. They suspected that he was too ambitious; that he wished to become King of the Roman people in order to gain absolute power in affairs of State.
4. What made Brutus to think Negatively about Caesar?
Brutus had high and noble morals and a very genuine desire to do what was best for Rome. Brutus watched his Caesar's growing ambition with great anxiety. Caesar showed signs of increasing self-importance. 

5.  What happened at the National Games?
 Julius Caesar had gone to watch the National Games.  There would be thousands of people there.  Mark Antony another famous soldier who had taken partin the Games, had offered the crown three times to Caesar.  Three times Caesar had refused it, but each time he was slower in his refusal.

Caesar went with Decius to the Capitol.  He did not know that his enimies were all around him at the Capitol.  One after another they made some excuses to come up to speak to him and stood beside him.  Then at a given signal, Casca drew his sword crying, "speak hands, for me" and drove his weapon deep into Caesar's back.  The others quickly follwed the same and at last came Brutus, Caesar cried in despair and fell dyingto the ground.



12. Explain briefly how Mark Antony promise over the dead body of Caesar?
Mark Antony knelt beside the dead Caesar and cried to swear that he would revenge Caesar's murder and would have no pitiy for his enimies.

13. Explain the importance of the two speeches made by Brutus and Mark Antony?

The speech of Brutus - Brutus justified the death of Caesar. His love for Rome was incomparable.  He wanted to free the great Rome from the strong clutches of Caesar.  As he was so ambitious, the death freed him from his ambitious greedy approach to become a powerful king. Brutus promised that he would do the same for himself for the good of the Rome.  Rome people were moved by his speech and cheered him form their hearts. 

 The speech of Mark Antony- Mark Antony came slowly into the marketplace carrying Caesar's bleeding body.  He slowly began to say how the evil that men do lives after them, the good was often burried with their bones.  Antony spoke about Caesar's kindness, generous to the poor and his love and pity for them.. He made the people to realize how Caesar refused the kingly crown three times.  He showed the Romans the Caesar's clock,torn by the sords of men whom he thought were his friends.  he showed how brutal Casca and Brutus to kill their best friend,  Antony stired the hearts of the Romans to hatred and anger.

 14. Where and why did Brutus run away?
The poeple rushed out of the market place in search of Caesar's murdres.  Brutus and his friends had hastily left the city fearing the anger of the people.  They left Italy for Greece.

15. Why there was a disagreement between Brutus and Cassius?
Brutus and Cassius began to discuss plans for the battle.  They did not agreed with each other.  Brutus wanted to march to Philippi and attack Mark Antony.  But Cassius was against it.  He argued that the enemy should come to them so in that they would waste their strength and they would be tired to fight.  But Brutus pointed out people of Sardis and Philippi were sympathetic towards Antony and would join his army.  Their own power was at its height and they must strike before the enemy become any stronger.

 16. Why was Brutus unhappy? 
Brutus became unhappy.  It seemed all his companions were arguing among themselves for honours accepting bribes and trying to gain important posts in the new Government.  Also Brutus received news that his loved wife was dead.  He and Cassius had a quarrel, Cassius was already jealous of Brutus' leadershiop, as Brutus was a younger man.

 17. Explain the war at Philippi?
They marched to Philippi, Octavius and Mark had the advantage of good defence position.  Thefield of battle at Philippi was very confused.  Their army was tired out with the long march from Sardis but Antony's men were freshand rested and already chosen the best defence position on the plain.

18.  Why there was a confusion between Brutus and Cassius's soldiers?
In the field of battle at Philippi was very confused partly because both armies wore the same uniform and it was difficult to distinguish friend and from enemy  and partly because there was jealously and ill will inBrutu's camp instead of agreement and understanding. 

19.  Explain the final War?
The fighting went on all day, but by midday it already seemed certain that Mark Antony was  the winning  side.  Brutus felt hopeless, thinking that all was lost, but he bravely led the reminder of his army once more against the enemy.  Before long he was defeated and although he and few of his friends manage to escape.  most of his army was taken prisoners.


20.  Explain the end of Cassius and Brutus?

A messenger bought news to Cassius that the enemy was in his camp and he,mistaking Brutus' own men for Antony's thought the battle was lost.  In despair he killed himself with his own sword.

Brutus too found dead at last.  He also killed himself with his own hand and with his own sword,like Cassius.  All his hopes for the glory of Rome, all his honest efforts for the good of the Roman people seemed to him to have failed, and he felt he had nothing more to live for.
